What are Rich Snippets and how can they be used for Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)?

With increased competition in the search engines, Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) has become an integral and ongoing part of any Companies or Organisation online marketing strategy. Achieving that first page listing is a great achievement but when you get there, it’s time to start thinking about how to encourage searchers to click through to your site.

The traditional way to convey a message via your search listing is to use relevant title and meta description tags. However, the chances are your competition are doing that – making the Search Engine Results Page look like a crowded area of links and sales messages! Luckily, there’s now a (fairly) easy way to add extra content to your listing so that you can stand out and provide additional information to searchers, which is called the Rich Snippet Mark Up language. Microsoft continue their 'relationship' with Twitter.

Twitter tweets back to @bingMicrosoft’s Bing has extended its search deal with micro-blogging platform Twitter for another two years, choosing to once again not renew their deal with the search giant Google.

It seems that Twitter was keener to work things out with Bing, rather than take the risk of things going wrong after Google launched Google+.

Bing Now Combines Yahoo Data into its webmaster tools
